Nils Mallock

Nils Mallock is a Fellow at the Centre for Statecraft and National Security (CSNS), where he works on the Cross-Border Conflict Evidence, Policy and Trends (XCEPT) research programme. He studies the psychological causes of violent and high-risk political action, including how individual perceptions can shape political attitudes and engagement behaviour in conflict-affected environments. His research involves fieldwork in Iraq, Lebanon, and the West Bank, and is focused on quantitative data collection and experimental studies, in addition to qualitative interviews with civil society activists and members of armed groups.

Mallock has a background in behavioural science and is completing his PhD at the London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE). Prior to joining CSNS, he has worked for Konrad Adenauer Foundation in the Syria/Iraq and Palestinian Territories field offices, as well as in private sector roles in Germany, Hong Kong, and China.
